The Beninese Bodybuilding Federation knows its new champions of the season. It is at the end of the 2023 edition national championship held on Saturday October 7, at the Majestic hall in Cotonou. They are Romain Zannou (Champion of Champions) for the boys, Djamal Do-Rego, Bignon Abadahoué, Djamal Do-Rego, Sofiath Houndeve, Mohamed Mouchirouet Jocelyne Adjohou (for the ladies).
What you should know:The 2023 national Bodybuilding and Fitness championship reached its epilogue with the coronation of Romain Zannou (Champion of Champions) for the boys and Jocelyne Adjohou (champion for the third time in a row for the ladies). Coming in large numbers, the public watched with pleasure the different poses of the athletes. Overall, it was a tough fight. The athletes showed commitment and everyone did their best to grab the best places. Thus, there are 8 of them to take first place in each category after the 7 poses (tests).
What do they say about it: Champion among the ladies, Jocelyne Adjohou declared “I am happy to maintain my place for a third time. I’m going to try to organize myself more and work hard to stay on track. This year, there are exits in sight (Nigeria) and I would like to thank the president of the Federation for his efforts, my family and my coaches,” declared Jocelyne Adjohou. For his part, Mohamed Nachirou (+85 champion Kg) emphasized that Bodybuilding is a truly professional discipline. This is how he encourages all young people who are just starting out to really give it a try. “They must work and above all respect discipline,” he advised them. Present at this edition of this championship, Bodybuilding and Fitness Professional since 2017, Mouchid Wora Salami said he was impressed by the different athletes but also by the quality of the organization. The computer engineer for 10 years for whom this sport is a passion was full of praise for the president of the federation, Bienvenu Vodounou. “I came down after discussions in April with the president of the Federation. There are many Beninese athletes in the diaspora and together we can promote sport. I am seduced by the organization. There is the certainty that Benin will become a great country of Bodybuilding and Fitness,” informed Mouchid Wora Salami who praised the efforts made by President Vodounou for the development of this discipline. The latter thanked all the athletes for the show. He has not forgotten the supporters, the Ministry of Sports which does not bargain for its support for the development of the discipline and also the sponsors. Finally, he recalled the next events awaiting the athletes, including the international competition which will take place in Nigeria very soon.
Between the lines : Nearly 30 athletes, both women and men, were competing for this season’s crowns, including the 3rd edition of the national championship. Also, a dozen young practitioners participated in the show by posing.
