The 45th Meeting for Friendship among Peoples opens today in Rimini, one of the most anticipated events of the end of summer that, as per tradition, will see a strong presence of Italian politics. The event, which will be held from 20 to 25 August at the Fiera di Rimini, confirms its role as a catwalk for government representatives, party leaders and personalities from the economic and cultural world.

This year, among the 15 ministers with portfolios of the Italian government, about ten will participate in the scheduled meetings, with prominent names such as Matteo Salvini, Antonio Tajani, Matteo Piantedosi, Giancarlo Giorgetti and Raffaele Fitto. Over a dozen regional presidents will also be present, in a period preceding the autumn regional elections. The participation of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni remains uncertain, as her name was not included in the official program, but her eventual presence is strongly encouraged.

The Rimini Meeting, which this year has as its theme “If we are not looking for the essential, then what are we looking for?”, will offer a rich program of debates, exhibitions and shows. With 140 conferences and about 450 speakers, 100 of whom come from abroad, the event confirms itself as an important meeting point to discuss crucial issues such as the economic maneuver, differentiated autonomy, the family and the right to life.

Among the most anticipated events, the meeting on August 21 with the Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini, the focus on Europe with the European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni on August 23, and the debate on peace and international cooperation with Antonio Tajani on August 22. The event will also host the President of the Bank of Italy Fabio Panetta and the President of the Constitutional Court Augusto Barbera, who will address issues of great economic and legal relevance.

Rimini is therefore preparing to host an intense week, where the Meeting confirms itself not only as a cultural and religious event, but also as an important occasion for national political debate.
