The Ministry of Energy reported that the 50% discount on the electricity bill corresponding to the month of April will be applied starting May 29 in the collections of electrical distribution companies.

This measure, ordered by President Daniel Noboa through Executive Decree 260, responds to the power outages caused by the dry season that affects the country. The government will assume 50% of the value of the payroll as support to citizens in this situation.

It is important to note that the compensation does not include the value of garbage collection, fire and public lighting fees, which must be paid regularly.

The Ministry of Energy, in coordination with the Agency for the Regulation and Control of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (ARCERNNR), implemented the mechanism to apply the 50% discount on April energy consumption for residential users. The ARCERNNR issued the report necessary for the application of the benefit.

Electrical distribution companies will make the necessary configurations in their systems to comply with the provisions of the Decree and Resolution. The discount is expected to be reflected in invoices starting May 29.
