Today, the 67th season of the Turkish Super League starts with a match between Galatasaray and Hatayspor.

As reported by İdman.biz, 77 teams took part in the competition, which has been held since 1959 as the National League.

Only 3 of the 16 teams that played in the first championship – Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas – without exception and without interruption competed among the strongest in all seasons.

Among the other 16 participants in the current championship, Trabzonspor is playing its 51st season, Samsunspor is playing its 32nd, Goztepe is playing its 31st, Antalyaspor is playing its 29th, Konyaspor is playing its 24th, Çaykur Rizespor is playing its 23rd, Adana Demirspor and Kasimpasa are playing their 21st, Kayserispor is playing their 20th, Sivasspor is playing their 19th, Istanbul Basaksehir is playing their 17th, Alanyaspor is playing their 8th, Gaziantep is playing their 6th, Hatayspor is playing their 5th, and Bodrum and Eyüpspor are playing their 1st.

Galatasaray has won the most victories in the Turkish championship, which began with Fenerbahce winning the championship – 24. Fenerbahce has won first place 19 times. The most recent champion is Galatasaray.

Among the championship participants, the clubs with the oldest history are Besiktas (1903), Galatasaray (1905) and Fenerbahce (1907). The “youngest” are Istanbul Basaksehir (1990), Kayserispor (1988) and Gaziantep (1988).

The oldest team is Gaziantep (average age 26.73), Antalyaspor (25.80), Eyüpspor (25.74), the youngest team is Adana Demirspor (23.06), Çaykur Rizespor (23.33) and Kasimpasa (23.39).

6 of the 19 clubs are coached by foreign coaches, while 13 are local. The oldest coaches are 61-year-old Jose Mourinho (Fenerbahce) and Abdullah Avci (Trabzonspor), while the youngest are 39-year-old Burak Yilmaz (Kayserispor) and Selcuk Inan (Gaziantep).
