French Riviera. 25 degrees in the shade. The hair fits, the dress anyway. Every year at the Cannes Film Festival, the French show us how intellectual glamor should come along. Namely: mainly floor-length, sometimes backless and also a little referential. Around 70-year-old Isabell Huppert fascinated with a new hairstyle and Balenciaga dress, singer Dua Lipa wore Céline backless and the delicate Natalie Portman appeared in a tailor-made Dior design from 1949. All of these are truly reasons enough to attend some unofficial fashion honors for Cannes to give away! So before the Palme d’Or award ceremony on May 27, we took the liberty of choosing the seven fashion winners. And please.

1. Never stuffy: Isabell Huppert in Balenciaga
