It is the regional stadium of Elhadj Saifoulaye Diallo which served as the setting for the official launch of activities yesterday evening, for 18 days. During these three weeks, several activities including among others: sporting and cultural are planned between the different universities of the country.

In his speech for the occasion, the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Alpha Bacar Barry, declared: “We have just kicked off the 8th edition of the Guinea University Games with the authorities of the Labé region. All public and private universities are here today to participate in the competition. We will also take the opportunity to organize awareness-raising events to spread messages of peace and responsibility among the students and young people of Labé. We ask the students to observe calm, play fair and have successful games.”

For his part, the rector of the University of Labé, Dr Mamadou Chérif Sow, invited all those involved in this organization to join hands for the success of the games.

Remember that these games started yesterday with a football match. The team from the University of Labé crossed swords with the team from the University of N’Zérékoré in the girls’ and boys’ series. And the University of Labé won 1-0 in the girls’ series and two zeros in the boys’ series. Unfortunately a clash was recorded immediately between supporters and the security services. However, note that these university games will take place from May 1 to 18, 2024.
