“Under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and with the support of the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports (AMDIE) and in partnership with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the FMP is organizing the 9th edition of PlastExpo and the 4th Edition of PackExpo, which will be held concurrently from June 7 to 10, 2023 at the Mohammed VI exhibition center in El Jadida,” the Federation announced in a press release.

In addition to the mobilization of local players in the plastics and packaging industries for the occasion, the FMP has initiated contacts with the commercial and economic representations of partner foreign embassies established in Morocco for the participation of industrialists from their countries.

Exhibitors from 30 countries are expected with no less than 350 national and international players with a volume of professional visitors exceeding 20,000 people, adds the same source.

These contacts were preceded by several actions, in particular the signing on June 20, 2022, of the framework agreement for local sourcing of packaging in the agri-food sector in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, the President of FENAGRI and those of several other partner federations.

Another specific agreement on local sourcing of plastic products was signed on the occasion to replace the import of plastic packaging with the aim of strengthening the sovereignty and autonomy of Moroccan industry.

Agreements for the development of investment in Morocco and abroad were signed with several sectoral representations during the Plastics Summit – Global Event 2022 in October 2022 and the 10th edition of the Plastics Forum-Exhibition which was organized in June 2022 under the aegis of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in partnership with the CGEM, and with the sponsorship of the National Society of Electrolysis and Petrochemistry (SNEP) and the support of AMDIE.

On the occasion of the launch of these two international sectoral events in plastics, local sourcing of the agri-food sector, Hicham EL Haid, president of the Moroccan Federation of Plastics and President of Plastexpo 2023 and PackExpo 2023 specifies that “the leitmotif of the 2023 editions of Plastexpo and Packexpo is inspired by this new approach adopted by the ingenuity of our supervisory ministry to involve upstream the different sectors of the Moroccan industrial ecosystem for the fruition of intersectoral synergies in order to strengthen Moroccan industrial sovereignty with a solemn objective of a concretization of the major orientations of HM King Mohammed VI, which will surely have a direct impact on the plastics sector in particular and on Moroccan industry more generally”.

Once again, the Moroccan plastics industry, through the signing of these latest agreements and the agreements currently being prepared, confirms its involvement and commitment to supporting the agri-food, automotive, construction sectors, etc., for greater integration in favor of 100% “Made in Morocco” products, he stressed, quoted in the press release.

The scientific and technical animation during this event will therefore aim to study, in the presence of national and international experts and opinion leaders, the optimization of intersectoral growth with these two sectors, with a view to anchoring industrial sovereignty, substituting imports of plastic products, developing investment and exports and creating jobs.

The themes of decarbonization, clean energy and the circular economy in the plastics sector will also be discussed during Plast expo and PackExpo.

The event will be structured around four key moments:

– The opening plenary session in the presence of ministers, ambassadors of participating and partner countries, general directors of national administrations and which will deal with the themes of investment and export in plastics, a strategic and industrializing industry.

– The Plast expo and PackExpo exhibitions, covering 10,000 square meters, international showcases of supply and innovation which will demonstrate the national dynamism and know-how, Made in Morocco, and international sectors of the plastics industry and Packaging,

– The International Congress Plasturgia2023 (ICP’23), the only Congress on R&D in the South of the Mediterranean with the participation of research centers and eminent experts from the most prestigious national and international universities. In the spotlight of this edition, the Moroccan diaspora of researchers on polymers and plastics.

– The B-to-B space, the objective of which is to promote meetings between investors and the establishment of strategic partnerships between different representatives of industrial sectors.
