The European Commission has approved for funding a proposal of the “Dimitar A. Tsenov” Academy of Economics – Svishtov for the creation of the KreativEU European University.
The project will be implemented under the “Erasmus+” program and has a duration of 4 years. Its main goal is the creation of a fully functional European University, which places the creative potential derived from Europe’s cultural heritage at the heart of teaching, research and academic exchange.
The total budget of the already approved project is EUR 14.4 million. Of these, the direct funding for the Svishtov Academy is in the amount of 1.251 million euros, and the remaining funds will be directed to the other higher schools included in the university consortium KreativEU, which submitted the project proposal.
“The creation of European University Alliances is of strategic importance for Bulgarian higher education, because it will allow a better positioning of our universities in the European and world educational space. The initiative will lead to the strengthening of institutional cooperation between various European higher schools and to an increase in the quality of teaching and scientific research”, commented Assoc. Dr. Marin Marinov, rector of the SA “DA Tsenov”.
Universities from 11 countries participate in KreativEU. More than 40 associated partners – universities from all over the world and various institutions – will be involved. Among them are universities from Ukraine, Moldova, Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Vietnam, foundations, student and non-governmental organizations, as well as public authorities.
On the Bulgarian side, among the most significant institutional partners are the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism.
