Russian car owners will soon be able to purchase an OSAGO policy with an extension to Belarus, said the previously elected president of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS) Evgeny Ufimtsev, RIA Novosti reports.
“In addition to the OSAGO policy, we will have the opportunity for a person to immediately purchase an annual policy with an extension to Belarus. The stage (product development) is very large, we will probably launch it in January,” he said.
According to Ufimtsev, this innovation will be in demand, especially in regions close to Belarus. He explained that this is a joint project with Minsk, Belarusian drivers will be able to buy a policy with an extension to Russia. Tariffs are still being worked out, Ufimtsev added.
Earlier, the deputies of the State Duma appealed to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov with a request to check the mechanism of the OSAGO, Izvestia wrote. Sergei Mironov, chairman of the Just Russia – For Truth party, in his letter to Krasnov noted that insurers systematically do not pay the share of the insurance premium intended to compensate for damage in the event of an accident, which, in accordance with the law and documents of the Central Bank, is at least 80% of the cost of the policy .
In June, the Bank of Russia proposed to expand the boundaries of the OSAGO tariff corridor by 26% up and down – due to the rise in the price of auto parts, insurers needed to be compensated for the cost. The new tariffs will allow insurers to keep prices for careful drivers by increasing the cost of insurance for accidents, the Central Bank explained in its message. Tariff limits for public transport will expand by 17.8% in both directions. The changes went into effect on September 13th.
