The municipality will not participate in hidden privatization, the fair is a national treasure, announced the mayor of Varna Blagomir Kotsev
Lawsuits are being held for the shares of the Plovdiv fair, they are and should be the property of the state. It is a key asset for the country that must be preserved.
This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov at a briefing in Varna after a meeting with the mayor of the city Blagomir Kotsev and the chairman of the Municipal Council Hristo Dimitrov.
“At the moment, we do not expect a final decision from the Municipality of Varna and the Regional Administration, because we have a legal process, but for us, the moral declaration that could be made is also important, how Varna envisions the development of this key asset and the return of the shares ”, said Bogdanov.
The minister emphasized that
there is no comment at all about payment by the state,
because the shares of the Plovdiv fair were provided free of charge to the Varna municipality. Bogdanov added that as they were provided, they should be returned.
His words were confirmed by the mayor Blagomir Kotsev: “The shares of the municipality of Varna from the Plovdiv fair must be returned to the state”.
The Plovdiv fair must be preserved as a national treasure and developed. Falling into private hands and becoming an accomplice in a hidden privatization is not something that Varna wants to participate in,” Kotsev said categorically.
The Municipality of Varna owns 16,314,400 shares, or 29% of the capital of International Fair Plovdiv AD.
Minister Bogdanov filed a lawsuit on behalf of the state and after a court decision imposed a lien on them. The court confirmed the suspension of the registration of the contribution of the shares from the municipality of Varna to the company “Paldin Turinvest”. This means that until the end of the proceedings, the shares from the Plovdiv Fair will not go to the private company.
According to the case study, there is
a decision of the Municipal Council, which has not been implemented for years,
a new decision is needed to overturn it.
As soon as he took office, the Minister of Economy and Industry ordered a full legal analysis of the case involving the Plovdiv fair. Later, the Council of Ministers assigned him to perform all possible actions in defense of the state interest.
In the middle of last summer, a claim was filed for the recognition of the state’s ownership of the shares, and at the moment both requests to stop the entry of the contribution in the Commercial Register and to impose a seizure of the shares have been granted with the decisions that have entered into force.
