“We stopped the active search for the man who disappeared at sea on Saturday around three o’clock in the morning today. In total, the search for the man lasted 36 hours. Unfortunately, we did not manage to find him,” said Janek Sepp, coordinator of the Estonian Joint Sea and Air Search and Rescue Coordination Center.

He added that the incident is now under the control of the Kuressaare Police Department, and with the help of Seal Island volunteers, the inspection of the island’s coastline continues.

It has already been reported that on Saturday, two Latvian citizens who were on their way from Kaltene to Roņi Island by jet skis disappeared in the territorial waters of Estonia. The naval forces of both countries were also involved in their search.

The Latvian State Police informed the agency LETA on Sunday that one of the missing persons has successfully reached Seal Island.

However, Sergejs Tvauris, born in 1986, has not been found. He was wearing a dark and red water safety vest, full body dark clothing, dark shoes, and a dark and white helmet.
