The actor Fritz von Friedl is dead on Wednesday at the age of 83 in Vienna after a long illness, said his professional colleague Chris Lohner, who was last seen on stage with him in “The Cage” at the Vienna City Theater Walfischgasse in 2008 and for years he has been friends with him for a long time, he told the APA on Thursday evening. Von Friedl performed in the Burgtheater and the Theater in der Josefstadt, among others, and also appeared in many television productions.
Fritz von Friedl was born on April 17, 1941 in Berlin as the son of the Austrian cameraman Fritz Friedl, and studied acting at the Max Reinhart Seminar in Vienna. He got his first experience as an actor when he was a teenager. This was followed by engagements in Germany and Austria. In the federal capital he was seen not only in the Josefstadt but also at the Ensemble Theater and in the 80s in George Tabori’s “Theater Der Kreis” at the Vienna Schauspielhaus. From 1972 to 1978 he was also a permanent member of the ensemble at the Burgtheater.
