Kelsey Grammer, the actor who plays ‘Frasier’, visited ‘El Hormiguero’ this Tuesday to promote the return of the iconic series 20 years later. In his interview with Pablo Motos, the 68-year-old interpreter revealed one of the worst moments of his life. Sometimes they happen when you least expect it.

In his case, it took place in 2008. The winner of the Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his role as the well-known psychiatrist suffered a heart attack while paddle surfing in Hawaii. “I started to feel a little dizzy and that’s when I had the heart attack… The ambulance took an hour and a half, so I had to hold on, but I survived,” he recalled very emotionally. Surfing is his great passion. At the age of 13, he got on a board for the first time and since then he has practiced it whenever he can. When talking about this sport, Grammer also came close to breaking down. “Physically, you follow the rhythm of the ocean and it’s like you’re listening to the heartbeat of God, that’s how it is,” he said.

The American director and producer has also begun this new professional stage with great enthusiasm and was ecstatic about the return of the series, which will be broadcast on Showtime. The fiction was actually a ‘spin off’ of ‘Cheers’. Grammer was hired for two episodes and in the end he was hired for five. “The producer came and told me if he wanted to have his own series,” he said.
