The great actress is 83 years old today. He was born in Nea Smyrni on February 10, 1941, originally from Istanbul.

After her high school studies, she studied French philology at the French Academy of Athens, but she followed the theater career after being encouraged in it by important people of the Greek theater, such as Minotis, Terzakis, Ploritis and Katselis, who watched her in a school performance (in the role of Electra, in Sartre’s “Flies”).

He studied acting at the Theater School of Pelos Katselis.

Later she collaborated with the Karolos Koun Art Theater where she stayed for several years, while her first appearance on the professional stage was with Mikis Theodorakis’ popular opera “The Song of the Dead Brother”.

For decades he served the Cyprus Theater having presented a very worthy offer.

She began her theatrical career in 1962, at the People’s Theater of Manos Katrakis, with the play “The Song of the Dead Brother” by Mikis Theodorakis. He then collaborated for two years with the Art Theater of Karolos Koon. There she met the Cypriot actor Stelios Kavkaridis whom she married in 1966 and they had two children, the sports writer Theodoros and the actress Marianna Kavkaridou.

After the Art Theater, he collaborated with Alekos Alexandrakis and Dimitris Myrat.

He also collaborated with the Cyprus Radio Foundation in both television plays, radio plays and other broadcasts.

In the mid-1990s, Despina Bempedeli came to Greece and took part in theater performances, television series and films. He played in the TV series “About Winds and Waters” (with Thanasis Vengos), “Bios Anthospartos”, “If you remember my dream”, “Mirror, my mirror” and “Seven Deadly Mother-in-Laws”. He also appeared in the motion pictures ‘Capital Trip’, ‘To Freedom’, ‘The Last Turn’, ‘An Eternity and a Day’ and ‘Black Meadow’.

After a few years of staying in Greece, she returned to Cyprus again, where she resumed her collaboration with the Satirical Theater, while she also collaborated with THOK. He also appeared in TV serials of private channels.

She is awarded the “Anthia-Pieridis Cultural Contribution Award” of K.E. AKEL (1990), with the Marikas Kotopoulis prize (1993), was honored by THOK for her many years of contribution to the Organization (1994) and (2003), while in Greece for her role in the project “Harold and Maud”, she was declared the 1996 actor of the year.
