Colombo | Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has called on the people of Sri Lanka to be ready to end their agitation against the government. He made the request while addressing the nation. The prime minister’s request comes as the island nation faces a severe financial crisis following a shortage of foreign currency reserves. Mahinda, who is also the elder brother of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, said the government was working tirelessly to resolve the crisis. The Prime Minister said that the people taking to the streets with agitation all the time would adversely affect the moves of the government.

‘The Kovid epidemic has pushed the country to such a state. Knowing that the economy was heading for a deplorable state, Kovid had to impose a lockdown during his tenure. This is the main reason for the decline in foreign currency investment, ”said Mahinda. He added that the protesters’ demand for the dismissal of the current 225 members of parliament was dangerous.
