The airline arrives in Colombia after the departures of Viva and Ultra. JetSmart announced the arrival of the Tucán Toco, JetSmart Airlines, 32 state-of-the-art aircraft, becoming the low-cost airline, with the largest fleet in all of South America.

At the end of December 2023, JetSmart, an airline, announced that it had successfully completed phase three of the five stages established in the Colombian Aeronautical Regulations to obtain the certification that will accredit it as an air operator in Colombia.

The start of its operations in the Colombian domestic market will be next March 14.

In its launch event, the company begins the marketing of seven direct routes, four from Bogotá to Medellín, Cartagena, Pereira and Santa Marta; In addition, there are also two routes from the city of Medellín to Santa Marta and Cartagena; and finally from Cartagena to Pereira.

The CEO and president of JetSmart Airlines, Estuardo Ortiz, stated: “We are marking history in Colombia today, with the start of sales of our domestic flights in the country. Our Ultra-LowCost model is proven in the region, which has allowed us to carry more than 25 million people, flying at ultra-low prices on new aircraft.”

Likewise, he added: “We see enormous potential in Colombia, to bring air travel at low rates to all Colombians, as well as connect with international destinations to promote development, tourism and connectivity. The ultra low cost model is back in Colombia.”

JetSmart currently operates in South America more than 20 international routes in eight countries and 50 domestic routes in three countries: Chile, Argentina and Peru. Today, Colombia joins this list as the fourth country with domestic routes.
