The alert of the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology for this Sunday: heavy rains and storms

The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (INUMET) issued two weather alerts that affect different regions of the country. The arrival of strong storms and heavy rains is expected in the areas under alert.

The orange alert will bring strong storms and heavy rains with a probability of between 50% and 75% of occurrence. A stationary front, linked to a humid and unstable air mass, is affecting Uruguayan territory, creating favorable conditions for the formation of storms, some of them occasionally strong.

It warns about the possibility of intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind in the affected areas. INUMET will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates in case of significant changes.

As for the yellow alert, the phenomenon will also bring strong storms and heavy rains with a probability of 75%. In large areas of the country, a stationary front associated with a humid and unstable air mass is generating favorable conditions for the formation of storms, some of them punctually strong. It warns about the possibility of intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind in the areas under alert. INUMET will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on any changes.
