The Amazon workforce in Martorelles accepts the agreement to close the plant

And it has been very, very well received,” said Rodríguez.

“From now on, everything must be negotiated. We will open a monitoring commission in the coming weeks and, shortly, we will begin to find out how many people want to relocate, transfer or terminate the contract,” the president of the Amazon works council has advanced in Martorelles. After a marathon meeting, the parties agreed to increase the available positions to relocate some 300 employees in the center of El Prat de Llobregatas well as a discount for those who opt for transfers to the Zaragoza and Figueres centersand compensation for those who do not take advantage of any of the two previous options.

The 300 jobs in the Amazon center in El Prat de Llobregat are few due to the volume of 745 workers that exist in Martorelles, of different categories. Workers who opt for this option will maintain the conditions agreed upon for employees in the Barcelona area, including compensation for night shifts or weekends.

Those who opt for the transfer to the centers of Zaragoza and Figueres will not have these same conditions, but for this reason some compensation plans. Thus, they will receive a payment of 7,250 euros, of which 4,850 will be entered into a single payroll. The rest, 2,400 euros, would be distributed over a year, as long as they continued working for the company during this period.

For people who do not opt ​​for either of these two options, a 33 day compensation scheme plus 375 euros per year worked. For workers of a higher category, a single payment of 790 euros would be made, while for the rest it would be 690 euros.
