The American Embassy signs a lease contract for a property in Tripoli

The Chargé d’Affairs of the United States Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent, and the Director of the State Property Authority, Bashir Kenijiwa, signed a lease contract for a property that will allow the continued development of the new embassy building in Tripoli.

According to what was reported by the US Embassy’s account on the “X” platform, Brent described the signing as an important step towards the full resumption of US diplomatic operations in Libya.

The Chargé d’Affaires renewed the United States’ commitment to strengthening its partnership with Libya and the Libyan people throughout the country.

Brent added: “It was an honor for me to be accompanied by Bashir Kenigwa, Director of the State Property Authority, to celebrate this occasion and to thank him for the invaluable support that Libyan officials provided to our efforts.”

It is noteworthy that the Council of Ministers of the National Unity Government had agreed earlier to allocate a property in the municipality of Janzour with an area of ​​20,000 square meters for the benefit of the United States Embassy in Libya, as Resolution No. 290 of 2024 stipulated that the northern borders of the property be the Mediterranean Sea, and to the south. A paved road, east and west of the Libyan state.

The decision directed the State Property and Land Registration Departments to complete the allocation procedures.
