The US Deputy Secretary of State confirmed that the nuclear talks between the powers and Iran are at an impasse and said that they are being prepared for any scenario: “We returned our response to the Iranians. From now on – it’s up to them.”

The talks between Iran and the powers have not yet reached a breakthrough. The United States admitted yesterday (Friday) that the negotiations are at an impasse and that they are waiting for the Iranian answer, and that they are preparing for any scenario.

The US Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman, said that “We are at an impasse. Iran’s latest response to the European Union’s proposal to revive the nuclear agreement is unacceptable to us,” said the deputy.

She added, “We returned our response to the Iranians. From now on – it’s up to them.” Later, Sherman stated that US President Joe Biden believes that it is better to strive to complete the negotiations. However, she confirmed that the US administration is planning for all possible scenarios.

Earlier this week, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken referred to the latest developments regarding the nuclear talks with Iran and noted that the Islamic Republic took a “backward step” in regards to its latest response to the proposed nuclear agreement submitted by the United States and the European Union.
