2024 Olympic Games: US Relay Team Disqualified in 4x100m Final
The US 4x100m relay team, considered the favorite, suffered a devastating defeat in the final of the Olympic Games in Paris. An error in the transmission from the first to second post, caused by Kenny Bednarek, resulted in their exclusion from the top three and eventual disqualification. This marks the first time the US has failed to medal in the event since the 2004 Athens Games.
Canada emerged victorious in the aftermath of the American disappointment. Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Brendan Rodney, and Andre de Grasse powered their way to victory with a time of 37.50 seconds.
South Africa (37.57) and Great Britain (37.61) secured second and third place respectively.
In the women’s 4x100m, the American team dominated with a time of 41.78 seconds. Great Britain claimed silver, just 0.07 seconds behind. Germany finished third with 41.97 seconds.
