The AMF-UMOA adopts risk management mechanisms

The Council of Ministers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) held its third ordinary session for the year 2023 on September 22, 2023, at the Main Agency of the Central Bank of African States of the West (BCEAO) in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It is under the Presidency of Adama COULIBALY, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, its current President. At the end of the session, various decisions were taken.

The Council of Ministers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) after examining the main conclusions of the first monitoring reports on the public service concessions granted to the BRVM and the DC/BR, under the AMF- UMOA, encouraged this institution and the Central Structures, concessionaires, to accelerate the ongoing procedures, with a view to meeting the expected performance requirements. By examining the conclusions of the report on market risk mapping, the Council of Ministers invited the AMF-UMOA to equip itself with mechanisms adapted to risk management and to submit any relevant proposals to this effect for approval. The Council of Ministers was also informed of the state of implementation of the WAMU regional financial market reform projects. He congratulated the Body for the successful management of structuring actions which will strengthen the attractiveness and development of the market. Still in connection with the decisions taken on behalf of the AMF-UMOA, the Board took note of the 2023 budget collective of the AMF-UMOA, the 2022 annual report of the Body as well as the main conclusions of the International Conference on the sustainable finance and investment in the Union, organized in Abidjan on September 14 and 15, 2023. It encouraged Community Bodies and Institutions to develop a synergy of actions around climate finance.
Among the officials who participated in the meeting, we can cite Mr. Abdoulaye DIOP, President of the UEMOA Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Kassi BROU, Governor of the BCEAO, Mr. Serge EKUE, President of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) and Mr. Badanam PATOKI, President of the Financial Markets Authority of the West African Monetary Union (AMF-UMOA).
