The amount of damage from the riots in Almaty has reached 260 million dollars

Ilyas Userov, deputy mayor of Alma-Ata, said that the preliminary amount of damage from the riots and terrorist attacks in the city had reached almost $260 million. Business entities lost about $155 million.

“The total amount of damage amounted to 112.6 billion tenge, including 67 billion tenge for business entities,” he said at a meeting of the operational headquarters.

Recall that mass protests in Kazakhstan began in January 2022. Local residents opposed the doubling of gas prices.

Looting began in Almaty, with protesters attacking government offices, shops and banks. They took away weapons, vehicles and various gadgets.
