ROMA. The Court of Arbitration for Sport of Lausanne announced on its website that it has registered the statement of appeal presented by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) in the case of Jannik Sinner.
Wada appealed against the decision issued by the independent Tribunal of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (Itia) last August 19 in which the Italian tennis player was found guilty of two violations of the anti-doping rules for which he had no “fault or negligence” (presence of Clostebol metabolites, prohibited substance) and for which no period of ineligibility was imposed on him.
In its appeal, Wada requests the annulment of the contested decision and a new decision establishing that Sinner committed two violations without application of Article 10.5 TADP (“No fault or negligence”).
The World Anti-Doping Agency asks to impose a sanction of a period of ineligibility between one and two years on the athlete and to confirm the disqualification of all results obtained by Sinner in Indian Wells.
The CAS then announces that the arbitration proceedings have begun and that at the moment, it is not possible to indicate a time frame for issuing the decision.
