The annual Moussem of the Zaouia Kadiria of Essaouira, from December 6 to 8
Essaouira – The Zaouia Kadiria of Essaouira celebrates, from December 6 to 8, its annual Moussem, an unmissable event in the calendar of religious and socio-cultural events in the City of Trade Winds.
Initiated by the Association of Zaouia Kadiria in Essaouira under the theme “the African extension of the Sufi Zaouias across the Moroccan Sahara”, this event aims to be a contribution to highlighting the principles of tolerant Islam and the happy medium as well as to the consecration of the values of peace, sharing, solidarity and coexistence.
The event’s agenda includes a series of activities of an essentially socio-cultural nature, including a collective operation of circumcision of children, as well as a henna application ceremony and a parade celebrating this ritual, which will crisscross the streets of the old medina with the participation of various folk troupes, in addition to artistic evenings (Hmadcha, Aïssaoua, etc.) and Sufi panegyrics.
The organizers have also planned a conference-debate around the theme “the African extension of Sufi zaouias across the Moroccan Sahara” with the participation of a group of specialists and researchers.
