Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed gratitude to Qatar for hosting the 3rd session of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with the participation of Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Day.Az reports.
Abul Gheit, during his speech at the forum, emphasized the interconnection of the Arab region, Central Asia and Azerbaijan, noting their common geographical, civilizational and cultural ties.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the Arab League’s commitment to promoting Arab unity and strengthening cooperation with various regional groups since its establishment.
He emphasized that establishing productive Arab cooperation with Central Asia and Azerbaijan is a logical progress, given their geographical proximity and common historical heritage. To achieve this goal, the League entered into Memorandums of Understanding with Azerbaijan in 2005, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in 2007, and Tajikistan in 2014, with the aim of expanding political, economic and cultural cooperation between the parties involved.
