Materi: The army neutralizes 02 terrorists after several exchanges of fire

In an area between Porga and Kourou-Koualou in the commune of Matéri, near the border of Burkina-Faso and Togo, elements of the Beninese Armed Forces neutralized two terrorists. This is the provisional assessment of a hunting operation for unidentified individuals who sow terror in the North on Wednesday August 02, 2023. Indeed, the men in uniform managed to kill two (02) terrorists and injured others in the exchange of fire. According to information obtained from security sources, an elderly woman in her forties was working in her field in the area, when she inadvertently came across an explosive device. The lady who was squatting at the time of the explosion had her lower jaw blown off and rushed to a nearby health center. Alerted, a military patrol descended on the scene of the tragedy and surprised a group of armed individuals who were retreating towards the Kourou-Koualou area. The soldiers then started the fire. Exchanges of fire between soldiers and these terrorists lasted several minutes. Military and police reinforcements, supported by an army helicopter, were deployed to hunt these terrorists. During the exchange of fire, two of the assailants were hit and several others injured.
