Hefazet Islam Bangladesh demanded quick arrest of those involved in the killing and torture of clerics. Amir Allama Muhibbullah Babunagari and Secretary General Allama Sajedur Rahman made this claim in a statement on Wednesday (14 August).

In a statement, they said, “Our strong demand to the interim government is that those who killed the clerics during the dictatorship of Hasina and who subjected the protesting clerics to remand with false cases and subjected them to indescribable torture, should be immediately arrested and brought to justice.” The intellectuals and online activists who supported the murder and torture of the fascist Hasina must also be brought to trial on the basis of evidence.

Hefazat leaders said, we are preparing to file a case against the Awami League and their allies for the brutal massacre of the Hefazat mass gathering on May 5, 2013, the police killings in the anti-Modi protests in 2021 and the massacre of the students in July this year. Soon we will prosecute the identified killers and those who ordered the murders, InshAllah.

Hasina’s government continued to inflict terrible state torture and repression on us for so many years. They made every effort to suppress the scholars by creating conspiratorial divisions among the scholars, threatening to forcefully close the madrassas and defaming the scholars in various ways. But, the murderous fascist oppressors were not spared They fell through an unprecedented mass uprising,’ they added.
