The artistic Valentino show and the impressive fashion collaboration of Jean Paul Gaultier

by time news

Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris continues with complete success, while many designers impress by presenting their most dreamy haute couture creations, as the most successful A-listers sit in the front rows!

Valentino Haute Couture Week SS’24

This season, Valentino chose the private salon of Place Vendôme as the setting to present his new SS24 Haute Couture collection. The house redefined the boundaries of haute couture already last year, turning silk and beading into trompe-l’oeil denim. Continuing with this aesthetic, Piccioli uses the concept of “haute couture to” create a show. Displaying the possibilities of his atelier, even something ordinary can evolve into a special creation of originality and beauty. Each piece is accessible to the Valentino woman and helps her bring out her true self, as she dreams of it.

With this in mind, the collection emphasizes the essence of design excellence. The “Le Salon” collection promotes high design technique, presenting an “explosion” of craftsmanship with unique fabrics and sophisticated design. In terms of silhouettes overall, we noticed an exuberance in colorful dresses, suits and creations that can appeal to all genders – almost unisex. The house’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli has, at times, been known to focus on a range of bold and bright hues – and this collection was no exception.

There were turquoise and orange draped dresses, blush capes, yellow coats and shirts, green off-the-shoulder tops, and a variety of textures. Flowing skirts starred in bright blue, while a range of long vests served as both over tops and statement pieces of an ensemble. Accessories and styling completed the looks on the runway and made the collection feel tailormade and personal. Among them were metal belts, opera gloves, gold cuffs and striking earrings.

Among the famous guests who watched the show in the front row were Florence Pugh and Kylie Jenner (along with her daughter, Stormi Webster, and Kris Jenner with her partner).

Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Week SS’24

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has arrived: Simone Rocha’s haute couture debut. The beloved Irish creator was revealed as a guest designer for Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2024 collection last September and the anticipation and expectations were high!

It is that, the rare collection, where every look is a talking point. Especially with this collaboration model introduced by Jean Paul Gaultier, each show resembles a well-orchestrated fashion game, in which we try to identify from which fashion archives and iconic pieces of past collections the new designs on the runway come from.

Rocha reinterprets the Gaultier corset with lace elements that are tied a little looser and ribbons that hang. There are navy elements, such as hats with red stone flowers – a detail that screams Simone Rocha – and marinières made of ribbons. Of course, the tapered bra makes an appearance – in multiple guises: peeking out from a black tuxedo jacket or starring in a peach silk dress.

Loyal fans of Simone Rocha will recognize her unmistakable design language. However, here she is tougher, compared to her ready-to-wear pieces. Collaborating with a haute couture atelier, Rocha further pushes the concepts she has worked with in the past – such as volumes, layering and different embellishments, reinterpreting her most classic creations.
