The Ashraf Gathering in Libya called on the Libyan people and all national forces to stand together in order to remove the bodies leading the current political scene, and to form a founding body to manage the transitional phase in the country.
In a statement obtained by “Ain Libya”, the group called for mobilizing international and regional support through the United Nations, to adopt a comprehensive plan aimed at ending the role of the current political bodies that have proven their failure to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people.
The statement called on the international community to exert effective pressure on the countries supporting the conflicting parties in Libya, in order to impose an immediate withdrawal and stop all forms of support, to make way for a Libyan-Libyan solution under the auspices of the UN mission.
The group also called for the formation of a founding body of independent national figures known for their integrity and competence, representing all regions of Libya and including various segments of society, to assume all the powers of the House of Representatives and the State Council to ensure fair and equal representation for all the Libyan people.
According to a statement by the Ashraf Gathering, this founding body will form an interim national unity government that includes experts and specialists, whose sole mission will be to manage the transitional phase and prepare the country for fair and transparent elections.
