the Assembly rejects the motion of censure Nupes

by time news

The National Assembly largely rejected on the night of Monday 24 to Tuesday 25 October a new motion of censure by the left-wing alliance Nupes, leading to the de facto adoption of the revenue part of the Social Security draft budget (PLFSS ) at first reading.

The motion garnered 150 votes, far short of the 289 needed. The deputies will be able to resume on Tuesday the examination of the expenditure part of this PLFSS 2023. The Assembly had earlier rejected two motions of censure Nupes and RN on the state budget.

These attempts at censorship responded to the constitutional weapon of 49.3 triggered Wednesday and Thursday by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, in the absence of an absolute majority in the Assembly.
