Fernando Grande-Marlaska has added a new controversy to his management. This time, it is the Civil Guard associations who have put him on the altar of sacrifices, denouncing abandonment and contempt.
The reason for their discomfort lies in the absence of the Minister of the Interior today in the Council of the Civil Guard. Although he was at a meeting in Brussels, where he participated in a meeting of EU Interior Ministers, the associations do not forgive him for not sending representation.
Faced with this “plantn”, all the associations present – JUCIL, AUGC, IGC, AEGC, ASES-GC, Union of Officers y Cabos Professional Association– have left the Plenary Session of the Council “as a consequence of the continuous disrespect and contempt for the civil guards and their representatives.” They do not understand why the general director of the Civil Guard has not attended, Leonardo Marcos.
The fact of having had limited speaking time also affects the ministry. “For the first time in history, the time to address the problem of members of the Civil Guard has been limited, cutting speaking times.”
All the professional associations have signed a joint statement “in the face of this insulting way of proceeding by the Administration”, where they have detailed that their gesture of leaving the Council was made as a “sign of protest against an arrogant attitude that affects the rights of all civil guards. The professional associations urgently demand the participation of the Minister of the Interior to solve this crisis and we are open to dialogue to unblock this serious situation as long as it is addressed with mutual respect and loyalty.”
“The professional associations are waiting for the Minister of the Interior to arrive to demand explanations about the unilateral decisions that have been taken to the detriment of the Civil Guard. If they are not convincing, we will announce legal actions against the ministerial officials” , add the representatives of the professional associations.
All the collective groups denounced that the general director, Flix Retail decided “unilaterally” to subtract 1% (2.5 million euros) from the distribution of the 2019 salary increase, included in the agreement on salary equalization between all State Security Corps.
