IDF forces and the Israel Police thwarted the smuggling of 37 weapons and drugs worth an estimated NIS 2.5 million in the Arava region.

Last Friday, in the morning, observations identified an attempt to smuggle weapons from Jordanian territory into Israeli territory in the Yoav Territorial Brigade area. IDF forces and the Israeli police rushed to the spot, deployed roadblocks in the area and stopped a vehicle in which two Israeli civilians suspected of smuggling were found.

The security forces, led by IDF fighters, conducted extensive searches in the area, and at the end located 34 pistols, a sniper rifle, two assault rifles, ammunition of various types and a number of drug packages valued at about NIS 800,000.

The suspects, weapons, ammunition and drugs were transferred for further treatment by the Israel Police.
