The Attorney General’s Office ordered the closure of the preventive action it was carrying out and forwarded the corresponding report to begin a preliminary investigation against undetermined individuals from the Cauca Education Secretariat, for alleged lack of planning in the timely contracting of the School Feeding Program (PAE) for indigenous children for a value of $9,857,514,240.
The Cauca Regional Prosecutor’s Office will verify whether this population was without school meals due to the lack of paperwork by the different departments of the Cauca department government, between April 23 and May 14, 2023, the date on which 27 PAE contracts would have expired.
The supervisory body requested information from the Departmental Secretariat of Education and Culture, stating that “there are no limitations on the knowledge of the documents required or classified as reserved, since the constitutional and legal function of the Entity is based on the knowledge of the complete actions of public servants, so it is not possible to present the argument of documentary reservation.”
Finally, he stated that once he receives the documentation, he will determine whether there is merit to initiate the disciplinary investigation derived from the conduct that could have caused an impact on the rights of indigenous children in the department of Cauca.
