Baruch Dayan the Truth: From Jerusalem comes the sad news of the passing of Rabbi Moshe Yaakov Weingarten zt’l, author of the book ‘Seder Aruch’ and rabbi of the ‘Mishkan Shimon’ synagogue in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood in Jerusalem and he was 76 years old at the time of his death.

The deceased was born in the Land of Israel in the 12th of 1556, to his father, Rabbi Yechiel Fishel Weingarten, the late director of the General Orphanage, Jerusalem, and to his great mother, Martha Shafrah, one of the righteous women of Jerusalem.

By his choice, he ascended and ascended to the Hebron yeshiva in Jerusalem, where he was a favorite of the leaders of the yeshiva. When he reached his age, he married his rabbinic wife Sarah Talita of the Smet family.

Rabbi Moshe Ya’akov zt’l was known as a great scholar and a great genius, who was well-versed in all the Shas and all with special simplicity, authored the book ‘Seder Aruch’ which is found in almost every Jewish home, and the books ‘The Ways of Our Fathers’ on the chapters of ancestors, and ‘Ish Chesed in Yerushalayim’ The tractate of the life of his orphaned father, Rabbi David Weingarten zt’l. In addition, the deceased left behind many manuscripts.

For many years he endured many sufferings and continued the sacred work of attaining the Torah and writing his books, alongside his role as rabbi of the famous Mishkan Shimon synagogue.

He won and left behind him a blessed generation of righteous people, among his sons: the genius rabbis Rabbi David Weingarten of the Rabbis of the Mir Barchfeld yeshiva, Rabbi Yosef Weingarten, Rabbi of the Yeshiva in Ashkelon, and his daughters.

His brothers are: Rabbi David, Rabbi Lipa, Rabbi Yehuda, Rabbi Yehoshua, Rabbi Zvi, his sisters: the Morgenbasser, Pilchik, and Berman families. His brother Rabbi Yisrael Weingarten, the late founder of the “Ways of Miriam” organization, who passed away in 1977.

The funeral procession this evening (Tuesday, the first day of Sukkot) at 22:30 from the ‘Mishkan Shimon’ synagogue on 16 Ben Zion Street in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood in Jerusalem where he served as rabbi of the synagogue for many years, to the Mount of Comfort, where he will be buried.
