The occupancy of the stands at the matches of the European Football Championship in St. Petersburg may be increased, said the vice-governor of the city Boris Piotrovsky. The permitted occupancy rate is now 50%.
“Despite the fact that the admission of foreign fans to Euro 2020 in St. Petersburg is not yet regulated, we will be ready to accept everyone. Moreover, we are ready to increase the occupancy of the stands up to 75%, if the epidemiological situation allows, ”Mr. Piotrovsky told RIA Novosti.
The vice-governor specified that now the maximum number of visitors to each match is about 30 thousand people. “At least I think you can expect so many spectators at the matches with the participation of the Russian team,” he added.
Euro 2020, postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, will be held from June 11 to July 11. Seven league matches will be played in St. Petersburg. The games will be held at the Gazprom Arena stadium. Its capacity is about 62 thousand people.
