BGN 834 reached the average amount of the basic pension without the additions to it this month, after the pensions granted until the end of last year were updated by 11 percent from the beginning of July.
For men, the average pension is now 991 BGN, that of women is 727 BGN.
In the capital, the average pension is the highest in the country – 1037 BGN, for men it is 1235 BGN, and for women – 909 BGN.
The lowest average pension is received in Kardzhali region – 656 BGN.
The average pension with the supplements to it last year 2023, according to data from the National Institute of Social Sciences, reached almost BGN 750 – 894 for men, 651 for women.
The nominal increase in the average amount of pensions is 16.3 percent, the real one – 7.1 percent.
The annual average harmonized index of consumer prices is 8.6. Thus, the Gross and Net replacement ratio of income from work to that from pension is 54.3 and 69.9%, respectively.
Reported expenses for pensions last year were over BGN 19 billion – BGN 45 million less than what was set in the Budget, but compared to 2022, nearly BGN 3.5 billion more were paid for pensions last year.
The relative share of pension costs from the Gross Domestic Product has reached 10.4 percent, and compared to 2022, the value of the indicator has increased by 1.1 percentage points.
According to NOI data, the number of pensioners is increasing. This month they exceeded 2,047,000, while at the end of last year they were 2,037,000, which is 7,000 more than at the end of 2022, BNR writes.
