A meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Commission on International Road Transport was held in Ankara.

Day.Az reports this with reference to the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency.

According to the information, at the meeting, issues of regulating international road transport were discussed and decisions were made. The parties emphasized that, given the important role that international transport plays in bilateral trade, joint efforts will be continued to develop this area.

It was noted that work on the creation and integration of the “E-permit” system, which allows the exchange and issuance of permit forms in electronic form between Turkey and Azerbaijan, has been successfully completed. As a result of the successful implementation of the project, the use of electronic permits for bilateral cargo transportation between our countries began and the first shipments were completed. Using an electronic permit, the first truck belonging to a Turkish carrier company arrived in Azerbaijan on December 16. It is expected that the first truck that has received an electronic permit form and left Azerbaijan will enter Turkey on December 18.

The exchange of statistical data, freight and passenger transportation was discussed at the meeting, and the growth in the volume of freight transportation between the two countries was especially noted.

Discussions were also held on the number of permits used by Turkish and Azerbaijani carriers for international transport. The quota of physical “permit” forms for cargo transportation for 2025 is determined as follows: two-way/transit – 65,000 units, transit – 85,000 units, to/from the 3rd country – 15,000 units, acceptance of cargo from the port for Azerbaijani carriers/to 3- from/from the country – 5000 units and in case of restoration of international passenger traffic for irregular transportation – 200 units.

At the same time, for international cargo transportation for the next year, an initial quota for electronic “permit” forms has been established – 500 units for bilateral and 15,000 for transit.

Thus, the number of “permit” forms for international road transport has been increased by 15,500 units and is set at 185,700 for 2025.

It was agreed that physical “permit” forms, depending on the level of use of the electronic system during the year, could be replaced by electronic permits. It is noted that, if necessary, additional exchange of physical or electronic “permission” forms will be carried out. The “permit” forms will be valid until January 31 of the following year.

At the same time, it was decided to continue meetings between the technical staff of the parties and begin joint work in connection with the E-CMR.
