The 2-month-old baby in Didymoteicho, who was taken dead on Tuesday morning to the city’s hospital, died from aspiration of food, specifically milk, into his lungs.
This was shown by the autopsy conducted today at the University Hospital of Alexandroupoli by Forensic Professor Pavlos Pavlidis. The Police have already been verbally informed, which started yesterday a preliminary investigation into the tragic event and now the Prosecutor has the floor. He will decide, based on the other evidence, if he will prosecute the two parents with the charge of exposing a minor to danger or if it will be considered that the baby died of pathological causes. Because when the baby was taken to the Didymoteicho hospital, the doctors, in addition to the fact that he was unfortunately already dead, found that he was obviously neglected.
We highlight this, because in the same Roma family there is also the tragic precedent of 2019, when their first child, a 3.5-month-old girl, was taken by his grandfather to the Didymoteichos Hospital with very serious injuries from mouse bites on the face and his hand. In fact, he was then transferred to the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis where he underwent plastic surgery, as he had serious injuries and was then hospitalized in Athens.
His parents, his 16-year-old mother and his then 22-year-old father, were arrested on charges of endangering a minor. The family’s living conditions were immediately examined, which were tragic in the lyomeno-trogli in the area located south of the city of Didymoteicho, next to the Erythropotamos river but also in an uncontrolled garbage dump, very close to service facilities of the municipality of Didymoteicho.

Then, in 2020, it was decided by order of the competent authorities to remove custody from the parents of the 3.5-month-old baby, then they had a baby boy and a short time ago the baby who died on Tuesday.
