The ball increases its bibliography. The book ‘Euskal Pilota-Pelota Vasca’ –Xibarit publishing house–, presented this morning at the Basque Federation is a new work that compiles the history and all the modalities of this sport. Written by Tiburcio Arraztoa from Navarre and with illustrations by Joseba Urretavizcaya, throughout seventeen chapters they are exhaustively examined from the most traditional and unknown ones such as ‘laxoa’, ‘bote luzea’ ‘rebound’ and ‘pasaka’, which are they play directly, such as those that are played indirectly against a wall.

The work also highlights the artisanal aspect of the elaboration of the different tools and balls, and their professionals, “in some cases at risk of disappearance”, their authors have highlighted. All with an extensive graphic testimony in which each step of its manufacture is reflected.

Collector’s Edition

The figure of women pelotaris, especially racket players, “pioneering and brave in so many aspects, who have been forgotten for decades,” also has its space. The book has a special edition for collectors of which only 721 copies will be published -the first will cost 185 euros-, and another reduced in Spanish to 30 euros.
