The German Journalists’ Association defines as “completely unacceptable” the decision of the organizers of the concerts of the singer Adele in Munich to limit media access, DPA reported.
Reporters are not allowed to take pictures and video footage for news agencies during the 10 outdoor concerts of the British singer. This is unusual for Germany, DPA notes.
Harald Stocker, chairman of the Association of Bavarian Journalists (BJV), said Adele’s team had decided to provide the media with photos that had already been taken, rather than allowing photojournalists to photograph her themselves. “This ban is completely unacceptable,” he said.
Usually photo and TV journalists in Germany can take their own photos during the first three songs of such big concerts. However, Adele’s team made the decision to send the media a link from which they could download the images they selected, BTA writes.
“There have been several discussions with management about this matter, but it is now final because this is the way Adele’s concerts have always been conducted – no matter when or where,” marketing agency Live Nation said in a statement to news agencies.
Adele will sing ten nights between August 2 and 31 on a stage specially designed and built for her at the exhibition center in Munich, DPA notes. After the end of these performances, the British singer plans to take a break from music.
