In Crete of 1975

The second season of “The Beach” takes us to Creet of 1975, in an era where Greece is slowly leaving behind the darkness of the junta and democracy is struggling to find its footing in the reconstructed Greek state. In the carved rocks of Matala, old and new characters coexist and seek their identity in a rapidly changing world.

Secrets, love, and revenge

At the same time, a dark story from the period of the German Occupation comes to the surface, threatening once again to haunt the present. A story that everyone knew to some extent, but very consciously chose to forget, and those who lived it and survived will, sooner or later, seek revenge.

The return of Pavlos (Dimitris Kitsos) to his ancestral land and his acquaintance with Iphigenia (Afrodite Liantou) will bring to light a forbidden, yet passionate, love. Pavlos tries to take control into his own hands, while Iphigenia tries to maintain it. One cannot succeed without the other failing.

A ode to Crete, to the beauty of nature and the power of forbidden love.
