The beer brush is back

BerlinThe beer brush is back! The aesthetically idiosyncratic landmark of Steglitz was used again this weekend after eleven years of vacancy – by the cultural initiative “Disappearing Berlin”. 2700 visitors marveled at concerts, art performances and video installations spread over Saturday and Sunday. “With Disappearung Berlin we are going to places that are disappearing or changing,” said Hans Krestel from the Schinkel Pavilion, the initiative’s parent organization.

Art in the beer brush. On Saturday and Sunday, “Disappearing Berlin” showed installations and performances.

The Bierpinsel is definitely changing: opened in 1976 as a tower restaurant, the futuristic-looking, 47-meter-high building quickly received its nickname and housed discos, bars and art cafes. After changing operators and water damage, 2010 was over for the time being. After the temporary use for art this weekend, the beer brush will house offices in the future. The new investor, the Berlin real estate company Immoma, also wants to make a gastronomic offer.
