The Best 2023: Yassine Bounou among the three finalists for the best goalkeeper award

Geneva – Moroccan international Yassine Bounou is among the three finalists in the running for The Best FIFA Goalkeeper 2023, alongside Thibaut Courtois (Belgium – Real Madrid CF) and Ederson (Brazil – Manchester City FC), the International Football Federation (FIFA) announced on Tuesday.

The three goalkeepers nominated for the award were selected based on their performances between 19 December 2022 and 20 August 2023, FIFA said in a statement, noting that the winner will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards on 15 January 2024 in London.

“After playing a major role in Morocco’s historic run to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Yassine Bounou has maintained his excellent form at club level, helping Sevilla FC win a record seventh UEFA Europa League title. He particularly shone in the final as his team beat AS Roma on penalties,” FIFA said.

As for The Best Female Goalkeeper award, FIFA nominated Mackenzie Arnold, Catalina Coll and Mary Earps.
