When you think of electric vehicles, the first thing that comes to mind may be an extensive list of expensive SUVs and crossovers. So is the switch to electric an option also for those looking for cheap and compact options? The answer to the question of which electric vehicles are best for those looking for something relatively budget-friendly has been revealed.
Most experts agree that EVs are a greener option than their past counterparts, but EVs still have some selling points to secure before they become completely mainstream. While older generations are still wary of switching to electric vehicles, a recent study reveals that four out of five (82%) young drivers believe electric cars are the future and 72% between 18 and 40 would consider purchasing one.

Respondents to the survey mentioned above admit that electric cars have a higher bar to meet before they consider getting one. This high bar includes features such as longer range (37%), affordability as a gas-powered vehicle (34%) and improved safety (30%). Other studies show that consumers are not only focused on the “green” aspect either, with 55 percent choosing to buy an electric vehicle for reasons other than the environmental benefits.
The Mini Electric has topped almost every list of highly rated and affordable EVs on the market and is therefore number one. Second place went to Fiat’s 500 electric vehicle, which ranks well due to its compact size, retro design, large battery and low mileage.
The Honda E is Honda’s first electric vehicle and is receiving very positive reviews for its sporty looks and powerful features. The Polestar 2 is one of the more up-and-coming star EVs and is getting rave reviews for its large battery pack, front electric motor, minimalist interior and drivability.
