A Chennai High Court judge has lamented that a lawyer thought he could resign due to his misbehavior with a woman during a video trial.

When the corona infection started the court case trial was conducted entirely online. As the infection rate began to decline, a mixed trial system, such as live and video surveillance, was introduced.

During a recent court hearing, when a judge was issuing an order in a case, lawyer Santhanakrishnan’s misbehavior with the woman in contempt of court for not knowing the camera was on shocked not only the fellow lawyers but also the judiciary.

Judges BN Prakash and Hemalatha, who have voluntarily registered a case in the matter, have recommended to the Bar Council that the lawyer involved be barred from practicing and the CBCID police be ordered to file a case and file a report.

Police were ordered to take appropriate action to remove the footage involved from social networking sites.

When the case came up for hearing again today, Attorney General Asan Mohammad Jinnah appeared.
The lawyer involved has been identified, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. He filed an investigation report claiming that steps had been taken to prevent the video footage from spreading on social media and that the Bar Council had suspended the lawyer involved.

Judges who heard the case said the video footage shocked not only prosecutors but the world, and therefore ordered the police to investigate the case without any compromise.

The judges also adjourned the case until the 20th of next month after ordering the lawyer involved in the contempt of court case to appear in person.

Earlier in the day, Judge P.S. N. Prakash lamented that the incident was the biggest ugliness and wondered if he could resign his post.
