The miracle of the liquefaction of the blood of San Gennaro in Naples was renewed. At 5:20 pm the ampoule with the saint’s blood was shown to the faithful gathered in the Cathedral, which melted after almost a day of prayer. The abbot of the Chapel of the Treasury, Monsignor Vincenzo De Gregorio, was present. Both yesterday and today, in fact, the blood remained solid while the prayers and Eucharistic celebrations continued. Archbishop Mimmo Battaglia made the announcement.

There are three dates on which the Neapolitans gather in prayer to invoke the dissolution of blood: September 19, the patron saint’s day, December 16 (in memory of the intervention with which San Gennaro is attributed the miracle that blocked the eruption of Vesuvius in the seventeenth century) and the first Saturday of May. Last December 16 the prodigy had not repeated itself.
