The new movie that went to the Netflix streamer The Blue Miracle tells the story of an orphanage that is in financial difficulties before closing. Papa Omar, the director of the orphanage, was a street child and even a drug dealer in the past, who returned to Motav and now, together with his wife, runs an orphanage for Mexican children called “Beit Hugar”. The place is funded by donations, but recently the place is in difficulties and if it doesn’t pay its debts the place will be closed.
Omar teams up with a captain named Wade, an older and disgruntled man, with an old, battered fishing boat. Wade was going to participate in a 3-day fishing competition, where whoever catches the biggest fish will win a respectable sum of money. Weed has already won the competition twice in the past but in order to participate.
The organizers of the competition, the Bisbee couple, whom Omar talks to about the difficulties of the orphanage, suggest to Wade that children from the orphanage join him and go to the competition together. He has a chance to win, since he won in the past and then they will share the money with him, which will help solve the problem of the orphanage.
The film is based on the amazing true story of the Casa Hugar team – a group of amateurs who won the first ever competitive fishing tournament in 2014 and donated every penny of their significant winnings.
At the same time, the story in the film is a little different in order to make it an exciting drama film for viewers.
The true story The team was named after the Mexican orphanage where the friends lived, and was made up of several orphans and their legal guardian, Omar Vengas, who were desperate to raise funds after Casa Hogar was destroyed by the impact of the recent Hurricane Odile
The orphans Bernal, Jobni Cabanas, Ramon Carmona, Alan Galindo, Jose Galindo and Moise Mencic – and none of them had any previous fishing experience. Against all odds, the team managed to catch a 385-pound blue marlin in the world-famous Bisbee Black and Blue Tournament – earning a whopping $258,325 in prize money, all of which went directly to the orphanage fund.
The tournament took place just weeks after Hurricane Odile, which forced about 92 percent of residents in the southern half of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico to lose power and caused significant damage throughout the region.
