The BMK and Drâa-Tafilalet regional councils join forces to accelerate the opening up of the two regions

Initialed by the Wali of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, Khatib El Hebil and the presidents of the regional councils of Béni Mellal-Khénifra and Drâa-Tafilalet, Messrs. Adil Barakat and Hro Abrou, this protocol also aims to upgrade the tourist sites of the Grand Atlas chain in its axis linking the two regions and to promote the exchange of successful experiences in various fields.

The two parties also agreed to support cooperation programs in the areas of continuing training for elected officials, administrative staff and technicians on each side.

Speaking on this occasion, the president of the council of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, Adil Barakat highlighted the various potentialities available to the region, particularly in the agricultural field, infrastructure and equipment, reiterating the willingness of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region to mobilize all the necessary means to boost this collaboration and extend it to many key areas.

The President of the Drâa-Tafilalet Regional Council, Hro Abrou, expressed his satisfaction with the distinguished relationship between the two elected councils in light of the adoption by the two entities of the two regional development programs, welcoming the momentum of development instilled in the cities of Béni Mellal and Azilal, reinforced by the implementation of major structuring projects and quality infrastructure.

He highlighted the links of proximity, history and geography uniting the two regions as well as the similarity between the two entities, all assets that must be taken advantage of, emphasizing the other agricultural, tourist and oasis potentials that the Drâa-Tafilalet region abounds in and which will serve as a basis within the framework of the new sealed protocol.

On the sidelines of this signing ceremony, the Director General of Services of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, Driss Achbal gave a presentation during which he highlighted the main projects contained in the Regional Development Program, in particular the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, the University Hospital, the regional university library, as well as the creation of a Health center at the Agropole of Beni Mellal, the Federal Football Center and several other edifying projects in the region.

The meeting was attended by the heads of external services, members of the regional councils of the two entities and elected officials from the two regions.

Early in the day, members of the Draa-Tafilalet Regional Council, accompanied by their counterparts from the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, visited numerous development projects in the region, where they learned about the actions undertaken by the elected body to strengthen infrastructure and basic services.
