The Board promotes aid against the drought with 60 million in loan interest discounts

VALLADOLID, 22 Sep. (EUROPA PRES) –

The Department of Agriculture of the Government of Castilla y León will promote aid against drought for 60 million euros in bonuses on the interest of loans requested by farmers and ranchers, as announced this Friday by the head of said department, Gerardo Dueñas. , during the signing of the agreement that has been signed for this purpose with eleven financial entities.

With this measure, professionals in the agricultural sector will also be able to face the consequences derived from the war in Ukraine and face the next planting campaign – which is already starting – with greater liquidity and guarantees.

And this is fundamental aid for the sector, seriously hit not only by these factors but also by the current epidemiological situation of the Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE).

After the signing, the collaborating entities (Abanca, Banco Santander, BBVA, Caja Rural de Burgos, Caja Rural de Salamanca, Caja Rural de Soria, Caja Rural de Zamora, Cajamar, Caixabank, Ibercaja and Unicaja) will offer their clients – holders of agricultural holdings located in the Community of Castilla y León – preferential loans that will benefit from interest discounts, under the provisions of Order AGR/1022/2023, of August 21.

The investment planned in this measure is approximately 60 million euros and consists of subsidizing the interest on loans of up to 60,000 euros maximum per operation, for 5 years with a first year of grace period and 4 of constant repayments, with a variable rate with reference at Euribor plus a differential of 0.5. This bonus will reach 100% for professional farmers and up to 40% for the rest.

Farmers and ranchers who intend to access this aid and have not yet done so – the deadline has been open since August 25 – must submit a request for recognition of the right to the Ministry before September 29.

Subsequently, the interested party must present the granting of said right to the corresponding collaborating financial entity, a document necessary to be able to subscribe to the credit policy until February 15, 2024.
